🚌 DAY TRIP PROGRAM
Meeting point at 06:30 a.m. in Syntagma Square and departure at 07:00 a.m. for a unique one-day escape into nature, history, and some of the most beautiful mountain villages of Central Greece.
Our first stop will be in Kamena Vourla for a coffee break. We then pass through the historic Thermopylae, the site of one of the most heroic battles in world history.
The journey continues through a stunning mountain landscape, crossing the gorge between Mount Kallidromos and Oiti. Along the way we will see the Holy Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary of Damasta, as well as the picturesque villages of Eleftherochori, Skamnos, and Ano Bralos.
🎨 Pavliani – The most colorful village in Greece
We arrive at Pavliani, a charming and artistic village located at the entrance of Oiti National Park. Built with stone and wood and surrounded by fir forests, Pavliani is a perfect destination for relaxation and outdoor activities.
In the narrow streets of Upper Pavliani, we will encounter murals, playful sketches, and creative details decorating buildings and everyday objects, giving the village a fairytale atmosphere.
One of Pavliani’s highlights is the Recreation Park at the springs of the Asopos River, featuring:
- a small cable crossing over the river
- secret paths with signs and directions
- tunnels, hammocks, wooden benches, and nests
- the famous musical bridge 🎶
For hiking enthusiasts, optional trails include:
- the Throne of Zeus, offering panoramic views over the Maliakos Gulf
- the Iron Throne, inspired by the TV series Game of Thrones
🏛️ Mount Oiti – Mythology & Nature
Mount Oiti is deeply connected to Greek mythology as the place where Hercules passed into immortality. According to legend, this is where the “Pyre of Hercules” was located, and where Zeus lifted him to Mount Olympus to marry Hebe, the goddess of youth.
The Oiti National Park, established in 1966, is one of Greece’s most important protected areas, known for its rich flora, fauna, and unique geological formations.
Lunch will follow at a traditional local tavern (optional).
🌲 Agoriani (Eptalofos) – Alpine charm
Next stop is Agoriani, officially known as Eptalofos, a village built on seven hills and surrounded by dense forests of fir trees, plane trees, and walnut trees.
Agoriani was a favorite retreat of the poet Angelos Sikelianos and is one of the most popular autumn and winter destinations in Greece. Nearby lies Mount Parnassos, home to one of the country’s largest ski resorts.
Main attractions include:
- the central square
- the waterfall
- the stone pathway
- the Church of Agioi Anargyroi
- the Seven Springs
- the Folklore Museum
Free time for coffee and shopping at local stores.
